Show Review: Fraggle Rock Back to the Rock on Apple TV
Debuting in 1983, Fraggle Rock is a beloved television series that captured the hearts of audiences around the world. Set in a whimsical underground world inhabited by colorful puppet creatures known as Fraggles, the show was a delightful blend of humor, adventure, and music. Apple TV brought back the series in 2022 and I had an opportunity to review the newest season Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, streaming now.
Screeners were provided by Apple TV, however all opinions my own.
Each Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock episode follows the playful antics of the Fraggles as they navigate their subterranean home, encountering strange creatures, facing moral dilemmas, and learning valuable life lessons along the way.
Season 2 tackles topics like misinformation and how communities are connected. In the first episode “The Great Wind”, the character Doc (one of the few reoccurring characters, Lilli Cooper) experiments with wind and this affects the Fraggles who try to figure out where exactly the wind is coming from. While Doc doesn’t quite realize how her experiment affects the Fraggles, the Fraggles take it as an opportunity to investigate.
Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock is more than just entertainment – it’s the familiar celebration of diversity, friendship, and how most living beings are connected in the world. Through its whimsical adventures and heartfelt messages, this show seems to be a hit with children because it’s funny but also empathetic.
Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock reminds viewers of the importance of kindness, compassion, and embracing our differences. With amazing puppetry, familiar cameos like Catharine O’Hara and Ariana DeBose, and engaging plots, the Fraggles are a wholesome show for kids of all ages.
