Movie Review: Leo is Leaping Good Fun!

Growing up, I remember when my 5th grade class had a class pet hamster. I couldn’t wait to be on the list to take it home for the weekend. I have such fond memories of that experience that when I heard about the movie Leo on Netflix, I couldn’t wait to watch it! Especially after I heard that it included voices from Adam Sandler, Bill Burr, and Cecily Strong. Plus I heard it was a musical and I was sold! So read on for my spoiler-free review of this fun film!

What is Leo About?

Leo centers around an old classroom pet lizard named Leo, who lives with his good friend Squirtle the Turtle in a terrarium in a 5th-grade classroom. Leo learns he only has one year to live and wants a new lease on life. He decides the best way to do this is to be the class pet that all of the students take home.

Leo’s plan is to escape and live out the rest of his days in the Everglades. Instead, he gets caught up in the lives of the students in the classroom and becomes their confidant.

What did Chasing Pixies think?

My family and I sat down to watch this movie and absolutely loved it! There’s humor in it for all ages (My teenage son was laughing his head off at several jokes). The story is enjoyable and the problems the kids bring to Leo are very relatable. It’s no wonder why this movie has quickly received stellar ratings from families and critics alike.

There is also a stellar cast attached to this movie, including Adam Sandler, Bill Burr, Cecily Strong, Jason Alexander. Plus, not only does Adam Sandler star in the movie, but he also is a co-writer and producer.

I highly recommend watching this movie on Netflix. You will not be disappointed. You can check it out here.
