Star Wars: The Young Jedi Adventures

Set during The High Republic, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures is about a group of children training to be Jedi Knights.  The High Republic is a period that takes place centuries before the Skywalker siblings are introduced.  This period is a mostly peaceful time in the galaxy.  This animated series takes place on a planet named Tenoo and Master Jedi Yoda teaches the children.

Kai Brightstar (Jamaal Avery, Jr) seems to be the leader of the young group with Lys Solar (Juliet Donenfeld), Nubs (dee Bradley), Nash Durango (Emma German), and Jonathan Lipow as the droid RJ-83.  The is a diverse group of characters with humans and of course, a fluffy blue teddy bear who expertly swings a lightsaber (not an Ewok but reminiscent of one!). The children learn to work together, solve problems and learn all the Jedi lore.

The whole environment of Star Wars: The Young Jedi Adventures feels very safe.  There aren’t any Stormtroopers or creepy Nihil lurking around.  Instead, the characters work on the physical aspect of training and also deal with things like bullies, having patience, and showing compassion to those in need.

The animation style reminds me of those Saturday Morning cartoons that were engaging and vibrant.   The characters are designed with a simplified style, showing clean lines and bright colors.  The backgrounds are also simplified, with a focus on creating a cartoon-like atmosphere rather than the detailed, realistic settings you would see in the animated show The Bad Batch.

The Young Jedi Adventures is appropriate for preschool-aged children and a great way to introduce Star Wars to a younger generation.
