It’s rare to find a movie that can juggle adrenaline-fueled car chases, sharp comedic timing, and emotional depth, but Eenie Meanie comes close. Directed with a high-energy style and anchored by a standout cast, the Eenie Meanie tells the story of a reformed teenage getaway driver, played by Samara Weaving, who’s spent years trying to put her criminal past behind her. Just when it seems like she’s managed to find some peace, an old employer pulls her back in with an ultimatum: take one last job to save her chronically unreliable ex-boyfriend John (Karl Glusman), or risk losing him forever.
I enjoyed that Eenie Meanie isn’t just about car chases and chaos. Ultimately it’s about love, loyalty, and the tough choices that come with trying to escape who you used to be. Samara Weaving and Karl Glusman are the heart of the movie. Their chemistry sparks every time they’re on screen together, making their chaotic love feel messy, real, and funny all at once. Glusman shines as John, the hapless ex whose loser charm makes him impossible to ignore. Weaving’s wide-eyed performance captures both the vulnerability of love and the weariness of someone tired of being alone and running from her past.
The ensemble cast is stacked, with Steve Zahn, Andy Garcia, and Marshawn Lynch. The action itself doesn’t disappoint either, the driving scenes are exhilarating, and some of the most fun to watch in recent memory.

Eenie Meanie begins as a lighthearted, fast-paced Hulu movie and gradually shifts gears into something more dramatic, layering the laughs and thrills with an unexpected emotional weight. I think that shift might surprise some viewers, but it adds some more depth to what could have been just another summer action-comedy.
At the end of the day, Eenie Meanie is exactly the kind of movie that makes late-summer movies successful- it’s fun, stylish, and unexpectedly heartfelt.
