Bitsy Bat Team Star is a fantastic little story that continues the adventures of Bitsy Bat, a star student at Crittercrawl Elementary. When a new nonspeaking classmate, Enzo Owl, joins her class and shows off his flying skills, Bitsy feels her spotlight dimming. Determined to win the flying race and reclaim her status as fastest flyer in the school, Bitsy learns an important lesson about friendship and teamwork when another friend needs help during the race.

Bitsy Bat Team Star has an important message about inclusion and understanding. By introducing Enzo Owl, a nonspeaking student who uses sign language and a communication tablet, the story helps children learn about autism and the importance of including classmates with different abilities.

This picture book a great way to show young readers that everyone has unique strengths and contributions to offer. Enzo’s incredible flying skills and quiet determination make him a compelling character, and the book can teach young readers how meaningful friendships can form when we take the time to understand and include others.

The illustrations bring muted colors like navy onto the pages to show details and action at the Critter Games.  The illustrations also show the joy of inclusion and collaboration amongst the students as they work to get a fellow student out of a pickle during the competitions.

This sequel is a must-read for fans of Bitsy Bat, School Star, because it teaches empathy, celebrates differences, and reminds readers that being a good teammate is more special than any trophy. It’s also perfect for classrooms, families, and anyone who wants to encourage kids to embrace diversity and kindness in their communities. We highly recommend this adorable book!
