DVD Review: Disney’s Wish

Disney released Wish in theaters this past year and it was recently released on Movies Anywhere. I didn’t get the chance to see Wish in theaters, so I was excited to sit down and watch, especially after hearing how much my fellow writer, Tiffany liked it (you can read her review here). Read on for my spoiler-free review of the Blu-Ray/DVD version of Disney’s Wish, now available for purchase on Movies Anywhere!

Chasing Pixies was given a redemption code from Movies Anywhere to screen this film. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

What is Disney’s Wish about?

The story focuses on a 17-year-old girl named Asha (Ariana DeBose) in the Kingdom of Rosas, who makes a passionate plea to the stars in a moment of need, leading her to meet a living, magic star that has fallen from the sky, and together they face up to the kingdom’s evil ruler, Magnifico (Chris Pine).

What did Chasing Pixies think?

I liked the whole concept, especially of Asha wishing on a star. It seemed very appropriate for a Disney movie. The story overall is cute but is also a pretty predictable story. The characters are well-developed, especially Star. I also loved the character of Valentino, Asha’s goat, who started talking with a little help of magic.

While we enjoyed the story, the art style of the movie initially took me a little off guard. The background is pretty reminiscent of an oil painting and it took my eyes a little bit to adjust to the art style. I did like that since the background was more muted, it helped the main characters stand out. The boldness of the colors kept your eye on the action and the main characters.

As a huge Disney fan, I loved all of the easter eggs throughout the movie. My family and I had fun pointing them all out as we watched. It felt that this movie was created with huge Disney fans in mind.

Overall, we all enjoyed the movie and I recommend checking it out. Make sure you stay for the credits too!

Movies Anywhere/DVD Bonus Features

This was my first time using Movies Anywhere and I was pretty impressed with it. It is a great interface that is very intuitive. While movies on there do cost money, you then own whatever you purchase, and I liked that I could watch it before it’s available on Disney+. Movies Anywhere also gives you access to all of the Bonus DVD features, which I thought was awesome.

For Disney’s Wish, those bonus features include:

*English Sing-a-long
*Once Upon a Studio Short
*100 Years in the Making: The Story of Wish
*Featurettes:

  • Outtakes
  • Deleted Songs
  • Wish D-Classified

*Deleted Scenes
*Videos for all of the songs featured in the film

Disney’s Wish is now available for purchase on Movies Anywhere for $12.99, and arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on March 12, 2024.
