Splitsville Luxury Lanes in Downtown Disney
If you haven’t had a chance to visit Splitsville Luxury Lanes in Downtown Disney, a rainy day is a perfect day to stop by. Just what is Splitsville Luxury Lanes? Splitsville is an upscale bowling entertainment complex. Splitsville has 20 bowling lanes, 25 big-screen tvs, and indoor/outdoor seating.
They feature a fun menu of classic bowling alley favorites and fresh gourmet food. Occasionally they also have live entertainment. It is a perfect place to go on a rainy day and is a quick walk from the esplanade. It’s best to reserve your lane in advance, but they do allow walk-ins. To learn more, or book your lane, visit Disneyland’s website.
The Grand Californian Hotel Lobby
The Grand Californian lobby is open to everyone, even if you aren’t staying there. It’s a wonderful place to relax and get a drink. This area has a lot of family-friendly seating and the lobby offers both kid and adult beverages. Honestly, my favorite part of the area is the kid area, with small rocking chairs and a TV showing old Mickey Mouse cartoons. If you are looking for a bite to eat, there are a few restaurants at the hotel you can check out, and you might be able to snag a last-minute reservation!
Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar
If you haven’t heard about this bar/restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel, you need to visit! Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar is a Jungle Cruise-themed bar, that offers fun drinks, food, and a little bit of magic. Trader Sam’s offers both indoor and outdoor covered seating. The drinks are tiki cocktails and they offer non-alcoholic cocktails too. They also feature “Jungle Cruise-ine” with a Polynesian flair.
Trader Sam’s welcomes all ages in their indoor area up to 8:00 pm and after that time, it is 21 and over. They also recommend per the Disneyland website that if you wear yellow, to please not act like a banana.
Animation Academy at Disney’s California Adventure
Animation Academy at Disney’s California Adventure is a perfect place to escape the rain. You get to draw your favorite Disney characters under the guidance of an animator. Classes happen every 30 minutes. While the list of times and characters isn’t available on the app, you can find a list outside of the Disney Animation Building in Disney’s California Adventure. Reservations are not required for this attraction.
Watch PhilharMagic at Disney’s California Adventure
PhilharMagic is a 3D experience that features many favorite Disney characters. In addition to the 3D movie, there are several in-house special effects that accompany the movie. It’s a fun experience for the whole family and a great way to escape at Disneyland when it’s raining.
The above ideas are just a few of the many things to do at the Disneyland Resort in the rain. While so many rides are open (and are so much fun in the rain), it’s great to have a few escapes from the weather and enjoy some of the hidden gems the Disneyland Resort offers.
