Top Entertainment at the Disneyland Resort During Halloween
It’s officially Spooky Season at the Happiest Place on Earth! This is one of our favorite times to visit the Disneyland Resort. From ride overlays, to Oogie Boogie Bash, and more – there is so much to not miss. We’ve put together a list of some of our top entertainment at the Disneyland Resort during Halloween time to help you plan your trip.
Oogie Boogie Bash
This is always a favorite, and usually sells out pretty quickly. The Oogie Boogie Bash is an amazing after hours exclusive party, where everyone (adults included) get to dress up! There are several immersive treat trails where you can stock up on LOTS candy while getting to meet some of your favorite Disney villains! While you are given a bag for trick-or-treating, we found it was better to bring a much larger bag (those snacks get heavy quickly).
The Frightfully Fun Parade is an Oogie Boogie Bash exclusive parade and it’s worth checking out while you are there. Another fan favorite is the Villains Grove. Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is transformed into a grove of mystical lights and sounds. While you won’t run into any villains lurking around here, the experience is well worth it. If you miss the tickets for the event, don’t worry! There is still plenty to do at the Disneyland Resort during the Halloween season. Read on for more ideas.
Halloween Screams Firework Show
No Disneyland trip is complete without watching the fireworks! For the Halloween season, there’s a Halloween themed firework show, hosted by none other than Jack Skellington and his dog Zero. The family friendly Halloween Screams Firework show features some of Disney’s favorite villains and of course fun Halloween songs. While the fireworks only happen on select nights, a Halloween themed projection show is shown on the nights when fireworks aren’t. Check the Disneyland app for the schedule.
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit is a Halloween themed egg hunt. You purchase a map at select locations in Downtown Disney, Disneyland, or Disney’s California Adventure and get to hunt for pumpkins around each location. After completing your map, you can turn it in for a spooky reward. My kids and I always love doing these. It’s fun to find the pumpkins around the park and it’s a great non-park day activity in Downtown Disney! Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit costs $9.99 plus tax and runs until November 1.
Mickey’s Trick and Treat
Mickey’s Trick and Treat is a fun, Halloween themed, interactive stage show located at the Disney Stage in Disney’s California. This show features Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and friends dressed up for Halloween. The show is filled with music, dancing, and more, plus everyone gets to bring home a spooky treat! This show use to be an Oogie Boogie Bash exclusive, but now plays several time during the day.
Haunted Mansion Holiday
The Haunted Mansion Holiday is a huge fan favorite! Jack Skellington and his friends from Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas have taken over the Haunted Mansion. This is such a great ride and I highly recommend you check it out while you are there during the Halloween Season. Make sure to check out the gingerbread house in the dining room. This gingerbread house is changed up every year, so it’s fun thing to check out even if you’ve been on the ride before. If you miss the Halloween season, the Haunted Mansion Holiday runs through the entirety of November and December too!
Cars Land
Radiator Racers goes all out for Halloween! From ride overlays, to decorations and more, it’s a can’t miss stop for the Halloween season. Cars Land offers meet and greets with Mater and Lightning McQueen, and for Halloween, they are dressed up in Halloween costumes. In addition, two rides receive Halloween themed overlays: Tow Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-ween. Both are exciting additions for the Halloween season.
Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour
Disneyland Guided Tours are unique ways to explore and learn more about the park. The Happiest Haunts Guided Tour is a 2 hour walking tour around Disneyland Park. The tour includes eerie, family friendly stories about the history of Halloween and Halloween tales specific to Disney.
Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour also includes:
- Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour Pin and Trading Cards
- Lightning Lane entry to a select attraction (attendees are given a ride pass on the app for a list of attractions they can use it on. Options include Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, and more. This can vary based on your visit)
- Access to the reserved viewing area for Halloween Screams
- Photo op with the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion
Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark
Every day during the Halloween Season at Disneyland, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout closes and a brand new experience opens in the afternoon called Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark. Without giving anything away, this overlay continues the story about what happens after the events of Mission Breakout end. Monsters After Dark contains a new song and a brand new experience for an already awesome ride. Don’t miss the chance to check this ride out! The Monsters After Dark overlay ends at the end of the Halloween season.
These are just some of the many things you can do while at the Disneyland Resort during the Halloween season! We hope this list helps give you some ideas for your next trip.
